I've always been fascinated by living with less in a world where everyone seems to value more. I love having empty space in my home, and my husband jokes that throwing things out is one of my favorite activities! (I only throw out things that can't be donated, to be honest.)
And, like a lot of other readers, my father was a bit of a hoarder. He had a lot of money, and liked to spend it on unique things. It meant I had a childhood that was accompanied by numerous fascinating objects -- a hobby horse covered in real horse hair, two of those brass things you see on ships that say various speeds including "Full Speed Ahead", piles of change left over from trips to exotic lands, etc., -- but when many of my beloved items were given away along with his after he died, I noticed I felt a lot of freedom. Ever since then, I haven't wanted to be bogged down, and in my internet wanderings, I found this site!
