I would need a bit more space but I think that´s really cool :)
I would definitely need more space as well but the financial freedom aspect is amazing.
My dream is about 700 square feet. I'd kill my DH in 100 sf!
Cute. I couldn't live in one (cello, dog, cat. Oh yeah and the hubby and kids :))
You know the funny thing about this - a few years ago these people probably would have considered anyone living in a trailer (in Australia we call them caravans) as 'trailer trash' or 'losers' of some sort, and really, these homes are basically alternative-design trailers.
LOL! I don't think my husband and I and our 7 cats and his piano and drums and our other stuff would fit in one of those. We lived in 800 sq. feet, and that was really too small, but I don't want to get too large either. My MIL's house, where we are until we sell her stuff and the house, is around 1100 sq. feet. I am really enjoying the space, but I don't think I would want to go any bigger, unless we had a bedroom for company. That would be nice. Oh, well, I imagine we are going to be "trailer trash" pretty soon, klutzgrrl. LOL! I hope not; I don't like all of the toxic materials that are in some mobile homes.
There's a funny story in a Buddhist book about an entrepreneur who goes to a beachside resort near a South American fishing village. He meets a poor fisherman. The fisherman gets up early and goes out to fish in the morning before coming home and having a siesta with his wife. In the evening he meets his friends when they have a little tequila and play some banjo and sing.
The entrepreneur sees an opportunity. He tells him he should buy a bigger boat. He'll have to work harder for a while, but he'll earn lots more money. Then he can employ people and buy more boats. He'll need to form a company. Perhaps get a business partner to share the load. In a few years he'll manage a huge fleet of boats. he'll be a millionaire!
If he works hard one day he'll be able to retire ... to a little fishing village, where he can go fishing in the morning, have a siesta with his wife, and in the evening play some banjo and share a little tequila with his friends....
Oooh, I have the same dream. Note: "dream", not "plan". Because -- lol@Sky -- yes, if I had to share it with my boyfriend, I'd kill him very soon, too! I guess the great thing is that the trailer is on wheels... so I could just leave the body behind and move somwhere else ;o) Mwahahaha.
Dream 2.0 is actually a house boat which would also be small, but maybe not THAT small so killing the boyfriend wouldn't become necessary right away ;o) Also, the house boat would have a deck, so that would be an additional room during the summer, complete with barbeque and tomato plants and so on. *sigh* :o)
Goodness, that is a little extreme for me! I currently have a 1000 sq. ft apartment (2 bedrooms) that I share with my boyfriend. The second bedroom is our office, with 2 smallish computer desks and some bookshelves, and the dog crates. We're looking to move to Seattle this year (from St. Louis) and I had the idea the other day that maybe we could get a 1 bedroom instead of 2. I'm not sure, he's not as much of an unclutter and want-to-be minimalist as I am, but he did say the only things he really needs is me, the animals, and clothes. If the living area was large enough for our desks, we could do it. I like having a dedicated space in which to work when I'm writing. And I worry where we'd put the dog crates (we have an 80 pound Lab mix and a 35 pound mutt that we keep crated while we're gone.) But we'll see.
Oh, Trillie, I like you....
I would like to be so uncluttered as to live in ... ten of those. But seriously ... one as a bedroom, one as a den, one as a kitchen, one for each of us to have a bathroom (one bathroom per adult is a quality of life requirement for me), one for a library. So, okay, six of them. Our dining set would not even fit in one, so we'll have to buy one of those big gazebo kits for that. It can sit right in the middle of our little compound of huts.
Basically, to live a social and cultured life in one of these, for me, is pure fantasy. You have to be willing to live with NOTHING but the bare minimum. Cute, but no thanks!
Can you say "claustrophobia"? Could not nor would I want to do that. I do like space to roam, or even just sit without things crowding me.
