It's amazing that a manufacturer would consider offering this product for that much money. Get an empty coffee can, print out the graphic on peel and stick, and make your own. OR don't lose socks. OR put the mismatches someplace besides in a container on the dryer - already a collection place for stuff. $30 - amazing.

I just put the lone sock back in the drawer without it's mate. Sooner or later the missing one turns up.

At $30 this is a definite unitasker! We have been doing the same thing for years with a small box. Originally, it was a box from baby shoes for my first child-he's almost 21 now and his socks are bigger than that box! It always made me smile to see that box. When it became too ratty to use, I replaced it with an attractive basket on a shelf above the dryer. I don't like to store anything directly on top of the dryer. The key is to periodically purge the collection. Some sock mates are just gone forever. (I think they magically turn into dust bunnies!)

Erin so needs to post this on a Wednesday post! Too funny!

What I want to know, in all seriousness, is WHERE do the missing socks go? I think every third sock I have is MIA!
Posted 1 year ago # -
a) static cling has caused socks (and other items to stay inside a sheet while folding. I don't dry small items with sheets anymore.
b) same thing has happened with slacks - socks get stuck inside the pants leg.
c) I used to take dry clothes out and put them on top of the dryer. Socks (and other small items) would fall behind or beside the dryer and I wouldn't notice.
d) when I went to the laundromat, socks (and other small items) would be left in the washer or dryer or drop on the floor unnoticed.
It's a conundrum.

My 9-year old looked at this and asked - who will pay so much money for this thing?
I told her she already was wiser than anyone who bought this. It reminds me of Rachael Ray's designer scrap bowl, that glorified waste baggie.Posted 1 year ago # -
Not something I would spend $30 on.
I will tell you my secret: I just don't match my socks. I have short white socks and long black socks. I buy them in 6 or 8 packs and when I buy new ones I throw the old ones away.
I do wonder where socks go though. They are one thing that just seems to disappear without reason, never to be seen again. Most things are just misplaced or lost for awhile and will turn up when you clean the house. Not socks, they are gone forever.

I know! I'm still looking for a sock lost recently. My husband throws them at the cats. Sometimes one doesn't return. Lost in a Black Hole!

yeah I think it´s totally OTT regarding the price. That´s a cool thing nws2002 does by just having a couple of types of socks. And if it still doesn´t work there is always the Sockscription :-D

All my socks are the same, and I just did a sock purge for all the socks(mostly still new) that were not that I wasn't wearing anyway. Now I have two kinds of champion white socks and that's it. The only reason I have two kinds is because I got some of them as a Christmas gift from work and they were not exactly the same as what I had. They had this thing where you could write a letter to Santa asking for something less than 10$ so I did it, and I don't think anyone else took it seriously and I got my socks.
When I replace them all, I will replace them with more white socks that are all exactly the same kind and just get rid of the ones I have now. It makes my life so much easier. I probably wouldn't even notice if any of my socks went missing unless it was like half of them.

I do the same as charmed2482. All my white socks and my black socks are all the same. When they start getting worn out I replace them ALL. There is an exception with my brown socks because they came in multi-colored sets. Next time I will try to find a style I can get where I can buy brown socks in bulk all the same as well.

I'm not sure this quite counts as a unitasker, but certainly something silly:

It's Throx! The ultimate solution to lost socks! Why buy just a pair of socks when you can have 3? LOL

I read somewhere that the Japanese buy more than one pair of the same socks at a time. I thought it was a good idea. Nope. Didn't work!

I solved my sock problem the same way I solved my laundry problem. Now I have just 7 pairs of socks, all the same. Two pairs of black socks, and two pairs of running socks.
That's it. When I start soccer reffing again, I'll get a pair of socks for that, too.
I have so few socks that it's almost impossible for one to go missing.. and if it does, I know about it almost immediately.

I don't look at a single sock as a missing sock. I consider it an extra sock and that at some point I'll gain a whole pair. But...still have to put it somewhere until the washer/dryer creates a new sock.

or you can learn how to turn the single sock into a sock monster :-)

Lost Sock
Let me just say this if you are looking for a good answer I do not have it. I am an engineer and I approach problems logically. First we must define just what is a LOST sock. For one thing a sock is not considered to be lost until it has been missing for a documented 30 days not just 24 hours like ho say your spouse. So things like in a pillowcase or in the sheets do not make the list. Now under the bed or other furniture, in the couch cushions, or behind the close hamper only count if you never thought to look or never just clean. Ho and sock heaven and just run away, not on list. How can one sock run any way? As much as I would like to support the sock eating appliance theory washers and dryers have lint screens, what goes in the door comes out the door. Now if you use a laundry mat and a sock is left stuck to the washer after the spin cycle and the next user take it home, well now we have two single socks. I have never brought a strange sock home. Yes there is a gap in most top loading washers that small things could get thru. I have been in the case of many old washers doing repairs and never found any thing. I have not seen the Maytag repair man on TV saying here are your lost socks. I have had pets take socks and dogs that go in and out will bury them. This however only accounts for a small percentage and if your only pet is gold fish, the socks would plug the filter. I have long suspected the static cling theory of hiding socks in pant legs or shirtsleeves. They just hide and wait for a chance jump off for a clean get away. I give this a 10. That would be say 10 per state per year or around 500 in the USA per year. The USA population is just over 300,000,000 so if every one only lost one per year that leaves 299,999,500 to account for. Now as for my wife and me, we average 3 to 4 lost socks each. So we could be looking at numbers as high as 1,049,999,820 socks lost per year in just the US alone. Now add in the rest of the world and adjust for the countries do not even have shoes, and world wide is close to 13,614,906,512 per year, that is 13 ½ billon. Now I am going on 60 years old and have seen some shoes on the side of the road and few socks out wandering the great out doors, 13 ½ billon, big foot could still be out there.Posted 1 year ago # -
@ terriok -- does this answer your question? :o)
