I'm designing a new home office area which sits in the back corner of my living room. I'm a self-employed bookkeeper / self-employed graphic artist / writer / mom of 4, and my 'office' is the center of everything and sits in the back corner of the family room in our tiny house.
I'm also a highly visual person (Yes - I took the unclutterer test) and like to work off of clipboards. Each area of life has its own clipboard. I'd like to arrange these visually above/behind the desk. (The desk will be stainless steel (the Ikea one from a recently featured uncluttered workspace) and L-shaped against the wall). What I'm thinking is to either put a magnetic strip along the wall (the kind used to hold knives in kitchens) or put a steal strip along the wall and use clipboards that are themselves magnetic.
But I've always been told to keep magnets away from computers and the desk will have two laptops, a backup harddrive, and several other mini-gadgets. I'm wondering if the magnets idea is just too risky. Any thoughts?
Or for that matter, any ideas on how else to do this? I don't want to use hooks as I don't like the way they look (keeping in mind this is my family room) and I want the up/down of the clipboards to be brainless (and thus more likely to happen). Many Thanks!
