Two of the ladies I work with have this and love it, and I just look at it and scratch my head. Yes, it sounds pretty cool and an easy way to make coffee and tea, but how hard is it really, even with a "normal" coffee maker?

Not to mention throwing away all those little plastic cups. How great is that for the environment? And then there's this accessory:

The carousel tower. So unless you have exactly 30 serving cups or less, you still have to store the extras in a cabinet somewhere. Seems pretty ridiculous to me.

So, while this doesn't quite count as a unitasker (it makes coffee, tea and hot cocoa after all!) I would think it's pretty darn close...not to mention a real clutter adder!

@jsights, i agree with you regarding the waste of the plastic in the pods. also, i don't savor the taste of water heated in plastic. however, in an office with differing tastes and cleaning habits, i found it a pretty handy contraption. the carousel is a time waster, as it's easier to keep the pods in their boxes.

I love mine. I don't think it is any harder to use a regular coffee maker, butthe Kurig saves me time in the morning. The carousel tower is useless clutter, the boxes of k-cups don't take up any more room than would be taken up by the coffee beans, grinder, and filters.

Those little pod things are ridiculously expensive, too. $10 + shipping for 18 servings of the same tea I can buy at the grocery store for 20/$3 with no shipping. And I can get two cups out of the stronger teabags. And the Keurig selection is very limited.

Our office has one of these and it *is* great for accommodating the varying tastes of a lot of people. But it's fantastically wasteful. Not least because 90% of the office folks use disposable cups to make their one-at-a-time cups of coffee or tea.

Catching up on the forums and noticed this. I agree that it is wasteful, but even at 55 cents or so per k-cup, that is still ~$3 less than a cup of joe at Starbucks. I think I've only been to Starbucks once since I got my Keurig a year ago and I'd estimate it paid for itself in 3 months. I like the flavor of most of the k-cups far more than other coffee I've made in my home.
