Another place to give away hangers - check with a laundromat that has a "fluff and fold" service. When I lived in an apartment with no washing machine, I would take my clothes to the laundromat and pay by the pound to have them washed and dried. They often returned things to me on hangers and they were not as picky as dry cleaners about which kinds of hangers they would take.
