Erin addresses closet uncluttering from a very pragmatic perspective in "Unclutter Your Life in One Week." I have to say that the steps she lays out for a closet purge made sense to me, but they didn't really seem to speak to folks who have a passion for fashion and personal style.
For that sort of perspective I really want to reccomend Tim Gunn's book, 'A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style'. He encourages the closet purge to revolve around wardrobe choices that are timeless, figure flattering, and that suit your life. But he also defines a category of wardrobe items called "soul stirrers," items that just make you feel and look FABULOUS when you wear them. His idea is that your closet should contain ONLY those items. I think this philosophy fits well into the Unclutter mission to live an "extraordinary" life.
