Today I gave a co-worker household cleaners that I either have a) too many of or b) don't use. It felt so good to hand them over to someone else who could actually use them!

I am also bringing some clips (ones you would use to close packages of food, etc.) to my mom. My husband and I have too many!

Today I "regifted" a set of fancy wine stoppers, openers, etc that I won as a door prize a couple of months ago. It is a really nice set but I have no use for it, so I'm giving it as a thank you to a neighbor who did me a favor. (Actually, he'll be doing me another favor by taking this out of my home:)

Out today: a paper hole punch, stapler, staple remover, handful of pens ( where do they come from?), tin mold and some old gift bags..

If this counts, today I returned a ream of legal sized paper to the store. I bought it for a project but later decided to switch formats. I can't think of anything else I'd use that size paper for. It felt nice to get that big thing out of my room. :D

Yes Ginger that certainly counts. You get double points for that because it put money back in your pocket.

... A tote bag full of outgrown kids' clothes, plus lots of hand-me-downs we received and I have no use for. Bonus - the tote bag was a part of the deal.

... Two outgrown kids' jackets went to my neighbor's toddlers.

This is an awesome project...I'm going to incorporate it into my plans and website.

But with a twist: in addition to one thing out a day, if anything is brought home, on that particular day an additional (an equal) number of items must be tossed as well. Today I'm going to take a look in my closet, where, if I have any sense at all, I should be able to find a week's worth of items.

Thanks for this thread. It reminds me of Gail Blanke's Throw Out Fifty Things. The trick to her "only" fifty things is that she considered one thing to equal one category. So, for instance, if I were to toss a hundred books, that would count as One Thing in her schema. Ten shirts? One Thing. I'm impressed by how much y'all have accomplished.

A big bag full of fabric scraps I'm not using.

Please tell DH the world will not come to an end if he got rid of an old pea coat he wore at University, and even then didn't have the chance to wear more than a couple of times. The darned thing has moved from house to house and from country to country with us and is taking precious closet space where I store winter jackets that are actually being used during the lovely winters in the Prairies.

Today's offerings were: 4 plastic shoe boxes that did not have tops; my first digital camera, a Mavica with camera bag, battery charger and instructions; a book on cats I bought 15 years ago for $4.95 and never used as a reference; a new jigsaw puzzle still in its shrinkwrap, totally not my taste and why did I buy it in the first place? A magazine and in my car is another fold up chair to donate, and during a new client consult, she had three of the milk carton storage boxes that are in my car to donate tomorrow; oh, and a girlfriend mentioned her neighbor gave her a cat bed a year ago that her cats don't like so it's also in my car to give to my neighbor or another cat lover! Wow!

Yesterday I throw away a rusty old porch swing.
Today the broken and rusty umbrella went to the same place as the swing.

Maybe not exactly typical decluttering, but I just gave away 9 completed scrapbook photo albums as gifts for my graduating Girl Scout troop. Yes, the were originally purchased as gifts, but I have been working on them for months, so they have been on a table in my living room for so long, they felt like clutter. It feels great to see a clear table (and to know that daunting task is finally finished!)

Forgot the monster I was truly happy to get rid of: big wooden mail sorter than only managed to be a heavy junk paper magnet. I had put it on a high shelf in the closet to get it out of the way. Gave it to friend who really needed a mail sorter.

Not much to report today. It sounds silly, but I chucked a disposable razor that was sitting in my bath organizer for the last couple of years. I regularly use another razor, a good one that doesn't try to bite me when I use it, but had a hard time throwing away a razor that still had some life it it. Now it's gone.
