I loved Warren - he just seemed like such a genial, kind fellow. His in-laws seemed not very nice, blaming him for everything. Wasn't surprised when it turned out wife had some cluttering issues.

My DH, a marriage & family counselor, kept pointing out both of the subjects' gestures and facial tics. They did a term on insecurity in relationships to people & objects in the MFC program. I had no idea.

I really like this show - it helps me to understand my own issues and keep on top of them, and be more sympathetic. My ILs have a lovely, clean house - and a garage built less than 2 years ago that is completely stuffed, in competition with the full shed and the rusting Studebaker in the yard. Even if you don't see it right out, the issue is there.

The Warren half of the episode hit home for me. I used to get so ANGRY at my ex because he was such a packrat. Our small two-bedroom condo was crammed with junk that he would not let me throw out. After he moved out, I spent more than a year doing a preliminary decluttering pass.

I say preliminary because it became evident that I had turned into a packrat too. I think it's contagious. If you live surrounded by junk, you start to think, "What the heck, I'll just shove this into that pile over there."

My main clutter problem is sewing projects and materials. I've made several passes through the stuff, finishing projects or giving away cloth. I still have a lot, but it's pared down considerably. (Looking at stack of projects on the sofa. Time to get off the computer and start work again.)

From what I read on facebook, you're not alone. It's serving as an eye-opener and a source of inspiration for people. Wonder if the thrift stores get huge loads on Tuesdays?!

Every week I think this show will get old, but it seems to keep drawing me in.

Interesting twists in these stories this week: Warren's wife blaming him but being a real hoarder herself. The van parked in the driveway just seemed so sad and I wished he would just tow it just so he wouldn't have to look at the place where his Dad died.

And Gail was once so vibrant. She seemed so frail mentally and I'm glad she has a family that loves her.
