LOL.

Years back I worked in an office, wore suits, and could get away with a one plus hour lunch. One day I visited the shoe department of a large department store. The kind that has salespeople in the department that help you.

This day the manager must have been away. It was so bad I actually picked up a few pair of shoes, put them in boxes, stocked them back on the shelves. What made it worse- someone came to the department and asked me for help!

I remember attempting to organise the desk of a friend in my class - that was in grade 1! Then I became a die-hard messy ad am now returning to order. :-)

LOL. A few days ago I was wandering around the dollar store with some friends, killing time due to a long wait at a restaurant. I found myself unable to resist organizing their keychains. You know, the sassy ones teenagers think are brilliant? They were all on the wrong pegs and all mixed together. Made me nuts.

There was a promo on a tv channel for the (final!) series of Monk which comprised a number of questions. "Do you line things up?" "Do you like to wrap everything perfectly?" Etc. As each question was posed, my OH said "yes" to all except maybe one or two. Yes, about me that is!

My own Monk moment was when I completely emptied out the fridge at work, tossing the old stuff (new lifeforms and all), and cleaning the inside. I have now been designated "office fridge monitor"!

What have I become?

LOL! HappyDogs, you really made me laugh out loud!

Hoarders makes me angry, especially when the hoarder gets angry and offers up lame excuses and doesn't see how awful their mess is. I sure couldn't be one of the counselors!

I am not a hoarder, just disorganized. One reason I'm in a mess is because my mother decluttered in her eighties and dumped a lot of it on me. Now I am dealing with my MIL's stuff, but I'm slowly getting control.

I watch "Hoarders" on the computer in my home office whenever a new episode is posted. My desk hasn't been this neat in months!

My MONK moments are in kids' classrooms at school (I've one in grade 5 & one in grade 3). I volunteer a lot and the first teacher I worked with was my kindred spirit - organized and structured, yet easy to work with. Over the years, we've had messy teacher, tidy but disorganized teacher, organized but untidy teacher... interesting the different styles, because every single one of them was dedicated and amazing, no matter their organization or tidiness. As much as I wanted to completely declutter & organize Ms N's classroom, she was an inspiration and an encouragement.

So I suppress my inner MONK when I put on my volunteer ID badge.

(No one has ever commented on my alphabetical ordering of homework pages after grading... :D )

hoarders has a weird effect on me too.
i am continually boggled and saddened by that show.
and i renew my own efforts.

but i haven't tried tidying anyone else up yet.

my mother however, will visit and offer to clean windows while having coffee.....

HAHA! I think this is great - I do that when I'm in my boss's office sometimes -I actually straighten up his piles!

As a person who works in an office, it's nice when someone else straightens things up so don't be embarrassed! They will be grateful that someone did it for them!

I, too, get OCDish when I leave my friend's house. She has the messiest, clutter filled room and when I leave I go home and go through things to give to Goodwill!

Okay, I will admit that every time I watch "Hoarders" I get a bit OCD about cleaning and organizing. I've thought of this as a good thing.

But, today, at the doctor's office, I had a spare moment up at the counter, and their rack of brochures was a mess, so guess what I did. And I couldn't stop. Embarrassing.
